NASA Opens its Research Library to Public Access
NASA has announced that they have given free online access to all its publicly funded research. The agency now offers everyone their research articles on many topics, ranging from the chance of life on Saturn’s satellites to the effects of living in space stations on the astronauts.
This is a direct result of the instruction given by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in 2013 to NASA and other government agencies on providing more access to their research. This opportunity, previously provided as a paid service, will now be offered to everyone for free and the reports of all the research that is funded by the agency will be available for access in Pubspace within a year of their publication.
Although this new NASA’s policy excludes research topics related to national security, there is already more than 850 research reports on their website –and many more to come.
